This example shows
I do not have a Ph.D., so I am not in the Math Genealogy Database. I do, however, want to be in the tree I am producing, so I need to be added to the tree by hand. This is done by entering information in Step 1. In this case, I give my name and the name of my university, as shown below.

Next, I need to provide information on my advisors so the tree can be built. This is done by going to the The Mathematics Genealogy Project page and finding my advisors. Here is one advisor and here is the other. From those websites, I copy the address and paste it into the Step 2 fields.

Finally, select the output desired, click the button, and then wait for it to finish.
